Services for Virginia Allen, 75, of Coahoma, Texas, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 26, at the First Baptist Church of Coahoma, with the Rev. Elwin Collom, pastor, officiating.
Mrs. Allen was born August 4, 1928, in Binger, the daughter of Willie Mae and Dewey Thompson. She died Monday, November 24, 2003, at her residence.
She and Paul Allen were married September 15, 1956, in Marietta. Mrs. Allen was a 1953 graduate of Oklahoma State University. She became the home demonstration agent in Love County, where she met her husband. Later they moved to Lubbock, Texas, and then Coahoma, where they lived for the last 40 plus years. Mrs. Allen was a teacher with Coahoma Schools for 34 years, where she taught homemaking and fourth grade. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Coahoma.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Allen of Coahoma; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Robert Cox of Fort Worth; two grandchildren, Bryan Cox and Amy Cox, both of Fort Worth; two sisters and brother-in-law, Othela Pippin and Susan and Joe Bryan, all of Fort Worth; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Natha Thompson of Pittsburg, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jack Thompson.
Interment was held at Coahoma Cemetery, under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
