Services for J.C. Adcock of Burneyville were conducted Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Eastman Baptist Church. Officiating was Rev. David Colaw.
Born October 27, 1929, in Maud, Texas, the son of Hughie James and Fannie Alice Tucker Adcock, he died August 7, 1997, at his residence.
Mr. Adcock had lived at Burneyville for the past seven years, moving there from Cedar Hill, Texas. He married Carol Manary July 28, 1977, at Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
Mr. Adcock was a professional horse trainer and was of the Baptist faith. He retired from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff in 1992. Mr. Adcock served 11 years active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant in July 1990, for a combined service of 26 years. He served at the U.S. Embassy in China during 1948 in the Honor Guard. Among the service medals he received were Victory Medal of WWII, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, China Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign and the Navy Unit Commendation.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carol Adcock of the home at Burneyville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim F. and Tammy Adcock of Lake Tahoe, California; two step-sons and daughter-in-law, Greg and Shelley Porter of Irving, Texas, and Steven J. Rado of Simi Valley, California; a daughter, Jennifer Adcock of the home; a step-daughter, Judy Miltner of Henderson, Nevada; a brother, James Adcock of Lima, Ohio; three sisters, Pauline Beauchamp of Fort Worth, Texsa, Ryna Stornetta of Washington and Vera Mae Leddy of Arizona; a sister-in-law, Elva M. Adcock of Grand Prairie, Texas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Adcock was preceded in death by his parents, Hughie James Adcock and Fanny Alice Adcock; two brothers, Floyd Adcock and Herschel Adcock; and a sister, Faye Moran.
Interment with full military honors was at the Ft. Sill Military Base, Lawton, at 2:00 p.m. August 11. Pallbearers were David Plummer, Greg Porter, Jim F. Adcock, Wayne Alexander, James Adcock and Bruce Adcock.
Arrangements were under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
