Services for Ethel "Dutch" Allison, 86,of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at Marietta's First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Higle and the Rev. David Colaw officiating. The eulogy was read by Martha Spell.
Mrs. Allison was born October 27, 1913, at Pike, the daughter of Moses and Maggie McGough Hull. She died Monday, May 15, 2000, in Lake Country Manor Nursing Home, Marietta.
She had lived in Love County all of her life. Mrs. Allison was a homemaker and a member of Marietta's First Baptist Church. She loved life in general.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sharon Allison of Overbrook; two daughters, Betty June Spell of Silsbee, Texas and Patsy June Shankles of Burneyville; two brothers, William Hull and Jack Hull of Marietta; two sisters, Hazel Goins of Tishomingo and Lil Coyle of Marietta; four grandsons; one stepgrandson; three stepgranddaughters; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Mrs. Allison was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Allison on June 13, 1974; her parents; a son, Harold Allison on November 8, 1977; a daughter, Arzella Harper on march 28, 1991; five brothers and one sister.
Serving as pallbearers were James Brent Spell, Rodney Wayne Spell, Troy Harmon, James Brandon Spell, Phillip Kent Shankles, Durwyn Douglas Harper, Doug Harper and Rodney Logan Spell. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Porter, J.T. O'Connor, Jr., Jack Hull, Brent Goodwin and William Hull.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
