Services for Laura Elizabeth "Mookie" Coonrod, 75, of Leon, were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, in the Thackerville Church of Christ, with Bro. Murray McMurray and Pastor Johnny Reed officiating.
 
Mrs. Coonrod was born June 8, 1928, at Thackerville, the daughter of Wallie Oliver and Armida Saltman Busby. She died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at Falconhead.
 
A resident of Love County all of her life, Mrs. Coonrod had previously lived at Thackerville before moving to Leon. She and Earl E. Gene Coonrod were married September 18, 1970, in Ardmore. Mrs. Coonrod was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
 
Survivors include her husband, Earl E. Gene Coonrod of the home; four sons, James L. Bearden and Bobby Basquez of Marietta, Andrew Basquez of Houston and Charles Basquez of Burneyville; three daughters, Lola Bearden and Darlene Bumgarner of Marietta, and Pat Hite of Oklahoma City; 38 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Coonrod was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Margie Ann Basquez; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Nettles; and five sisters, Josephine Brown, Nora Roper, Mildred Jacobs, Annie Hart and Leatha Kittrell. 

Pallbearers were Larry Hite, David Bumgarner, Weldon Cross, Joe Lee, Ray Ramon and Rick Lewis. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Ramon, Dutch Knowles, Max Hassanshahi and her grandsons.
 
Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
