This cemetery is called Love Cemetery, but to be able to tell
the difference between this one and the one in Oil Springs, this one is called
Loves Valley since it is located in the valley area southeast of Marietta & the
other is miles north in the Oil Springs area.
This cemetery was founded appx 1860 & consisted of about 180 graves. The cemetery was used as a hog pen in the 1930's several headstones were turned over or ruined.
LOVE is an abandoned cemetery on the banks of the Red River. It is very overgrown and very difficult to find. Many of the people of the Love family, of which this County is named after, are buried here; including Judge Overton Love known as Sobe Love.
Location is Section 4 township 8, south range 3 east.
