Jimmy Ray Whatley, 63-y3ar-old longtime Marietta resident, died Monday, April 18, 2022, at the Brookside Nursing Center, Madill. Graveside funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 21 in the Leon Cemetery with Lawrence Anderson officiating.

Jimmy was born June 11, 1958, in Ringling, the son of E. E. and Mattie Belle Washington Whatley. Jimmy moved to Marietta as a young boy. He attended school in Marietta and gained employment in the area over the years laying brick, mowing yards, and doing odd jobs. Jimmy loved to ride around town on his bicycle visiting with people and telling jokes. He also loved to fish and play dominoes. Jimmy was a member of the Marietta Gunfighters Club for 15 years and a member of the Shady Dale Baptist Church.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by several cousins and a community full of friends.

Those who wish to honor Jimmy's memory through a charitable donation are asked to remember the Southern Oklahoma Nutrition Program, 1107 North Highway 77, Marietta, OK 73448.
