Funeral services for Anna Geraldine Thompson, 82, of Leon were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 6 in the Chapel of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta with Brother John Sconce officiating.

Interment followed in the Leon Cemetery.

Born January 8, 1938 at Middlesboro, Kentucky, the daughter of James Morrison and Martha Edna Smith-Thompson, she died Thursday, October 1, 2020 at her residence. Anna grew up and attended schools in Middlesboro, graduating with the Class of 1956. She worked in Quality Assurance for the Sathers Candy Company in Chattanooga, Tennessee for several years until cancer forced her into retirement in 2000. After retirement, Anna moved to Leon. Even though she was in Oklahoma, she maintained her love for the University of Kentucky basketball team. Anna became a proud supporter of the Love County Volunteer Fire Departments and became a member of the Leon Chapter of the Love County O.H.C.E. and the Leon Baptist Church. Anna was a very independent woman who took pride in spoiling her grandchildren, or “Grand-Youngins” as she called them. One of the many things she will be remembered for is keeping a jar of chocolates at her house to share with the Grand-Youngins when they would visit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marth Ruth Hubble Vieira; three brothers, Mink Hamilton Thompson, James Sewell Thompson, and Paul Nelson Thompson; four sisters, Mary Francis Green, Opal Lee Perry, Billie Jean Miracle, and Doris June Cove; and son-in-law, Jim Smith.

Survivors include three daughters, Debra Frazier and husband Dennis of Leon, Sharon Smith of Cleveland, Texas, and Karma Seaman and husband Gary of Fort Myers, Florida; and 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Keith Snyder, Keith Flannery, Walker Evans, Wes Glenn, Gary Seaman, and Dennis Frazier. Honorary bearer was Richard Potter.
