Services for Edna Odessa Thomas, 84, of Wills Point, Texas, formerly of Burneyville, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 14 in the Rubottom Baptist Church with Pastor Benny Chaffin officiating.

Interment followed in the Leon Cemetery.

Born March 3, 1935 at Pike, the daughter of William Arthur and Effie Lee Madderra Lyons, she died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. Edna was raised in Love County. She attended Courtney Schools and was a graduate of Turner High School with the Class of 1952. She married Billy Joe Thomas on August 20, 1952 in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2001. Billy and Edna resided in Mesquite, Texas most of their lives, where she worked for Dallas County as a court coordinator. Edna retired in March of 1995 after 32 years of service and din 2016 she moved to Wills Point. Some of her special interests included tending to her cattle, fishing, playing bingo, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edna was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Guzy, and three brothers, Bonnie, Woody and Clint Lyons.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet Morgan of Wills Point; three grandchildren, Christy Wilson of Wills Point, Dustin Ruckman and wife Cherees of New Orleans, and Kortni Ruckman of Mesquite; six great-grandchildren, Zachary Wilson, Kyle Wilson, Emily Wilson, Persephone Ruckman, Patrick Ruckman, and William Ruckman.

Serving as pallbearers were Dale Lyons, Larry Lyons, Curt Lyons, Zachary Wilson, Kyle Wilson and Gary Hartman. Honorary bearer was Melvin Lane.
