Melvin “Devon” Reed, 65, of Burneyville, OK passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, OK. He was born March 2, 1956 in Burneyville, the son of Melvin Houston and Evelyn Floye (McDonald) Reed.
 
Devon was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Turner High School. He married his love Mary Elizabeth Pitman on September 2, 1996 in Saint Jo, TX and they were happily married for 25 years. Devon worked for Uniroyal for 19 years before becoming a farmer and rancher. He enjoyed working with mules and driving wagons. Devon had a love and talent for music. He played the guitar with his band. Devon was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Reed of the home; sons, Travis Reed of Burneyville and Colton Reed of Burneyville; daughter, Amber Robertson of Marietta, OK; father, M.H. Reed of Burneyville; mother of Travis and Amber, Sue Kennedy of Marietta; sisters, Charlene Frazier and husband Jimmy of Leon, OK and Dian Crider of Dickson, OK; and grandchildren, Lillie Reed, Daisye Reed, Azalia Reed, Paisley Reed, and Bella Robertson.
 
Devon was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Reed; son-in-law, Aaron Robertson; and brother-in-law, Johnny Crider.
 
Graveside services for Devon will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Leon Cemetery with Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Casket bearers are Terry Eden, W.R. Howard, Elvis Reed, Don Reed, Crook Burton, and Taylor Stinson. Honorary bearers are Jimmy Rose Dixon, Jack Hartman, Robert Pitman, L.J. Lornes, Mike Wilkerson, and Darryl Reed.
