THELMA GRACE PIERCE

Services for Thelma Grace Pierce, 89, of Leon, were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 27, in the Leon Baptist Church, Leon, with the Rev. Lamoin Champ officiating. Interment was in the Leon Cemetery, Leon.
Born October 21, 1917, at Rubottom, the daughter of Jodie and Flora Mae Hogue Lawson, she died Sunday, February 25, 2007, in the Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.
A resident of Love County her entire life, Mrs. Pierce was an excellent seamstress and also worked at Marietta Sportswear for a number of years. She and H.A. Pierce Jr. Were married November 8, 1934, in Marietta, and he preceded her in death on October 21, 1997. Mrs. Pierce loved to cook, especially baked goods, sew and spend time with family and friends. Bowling was one of her hobbies. She was a member of the Leon Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Terry and Leona Pierce and Hershel Pierce of Leon; two brothers, Lloyd Lawson of Phoenix, Arizona and Orby Lawson of Rubottom; five grandchildren, Cristal Hill, Sheila Nipp, Rodney Pierce, Kevin Pierce and Justin Pierce; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Roy Lawson; a sister, Flossie Harris; and a daughter-in-law, Jackie Pierce.
Pallbearers were Rodney Pierce, Kevin Pierce, Justin Pierce, Chance Tynes, Jackie Dale Miller and Vernon Brown.
