Mr. Mason was born July 9, 1936, at Enville, the son of Paul and Trudy Stevens Mason. He died Monday, August 18, 2003, at his residence in Kotzebue.

He had previously made his home in Anchorage, Alaska. He and Almeta Petty were married in Gainesville, Texas, on July 8, 1957, and she preceded him in death on November 13, 1968.

He then married Beulah Pungalik in Anchorage. Mr. and Mrs. Mason died together at their Kobuk River Delta cabin on August 18. He was a retired hospital maintenance employee.

Survivors include four stepsons, Fritz Geffe, Tom Geffe, Wilson Geffe and Conrad Geffe of Alaska; two stepdaughters, JoAnn Comin and Leona Geffe of Alaska; six brothers, J.B. Mason of Oroville, California, Vernon “Red” Mason of Salinas, California, George Mason of Modesto, California, Mack Mason of Yuba City, California, Benny Mason of Gainesville, Texas, and Gary Mason of Missouri; three sisters, Eloise Rushing of Marietta, Edith Kirk of Newalla, and Joy Landry of York, Maine; several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mason was also preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Betty Mason and Mary Mason.

Services were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
