Sonny was born September 27, 1936, at Leon to Charles and Carrie (Tom) Hartman. He departed this life December 8, 2023, at his home in Leon.

Sonny lived his entire life in Leon where he attended school, worked, and raised a family. He lived his life outdoors, fishing and hunting, most of the time with his hounds that he was so proud of. Sonny worked in the oil field for over 30 years, sometimes having two jobs and working 16-hour shifts. He was later employed by the Leon Water Department where he worked for many years, assisting in several areas. Sonny was a hard worker, starting at a very young age. He loved having a garden that supplied fresh vegetables for many friends and neighbors. He harvested pecans and built many miles of fence for people. Sonny fed hundreds of people with the many fish fries he provided. He enjoyed playing tricks on others and telling stories. Sonny loved his family beyond measure and just enjoyed spending time with all of them.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Charles and Carrie Hartman, and siblings, Johnny Hartman, Marie Sparks, Roy Hartman, Mary Haymes, and Lula Mae Baker-Taylor.

He is survived by his children, Ricky Lynn Hartman and wife Debbie of Las Vegas, Chuck Hartman and wife Susy of Ardmore, Laura Hartman, Eric Hartman, and Tracey Hartman all of Leon, Scott Hartman and wife Brandi of Burneyville, and Kelly Hartman and wife Jeanna of Ardmore; brother, Larry Hartman and wife Teresa of Leon; sister, Vera Mae Leibrock Jones of Ardmore; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; special friends, Jo Daniels and Tammy Durbin; and numerous other family and a host of friends.
