Services for Floyd M. Gipson, Jr. of Burneyville were Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Freeman Auditorium of Turner School.  Officiating was Rev. Roy Vinson.

Born January 22, 1929, at Jimtown, the son of Floyd M. Sr. and Vera Chambers Gipson, Mr. Gipson died January 14, 2000, at Mercy Health Love County, Marietta, at the age of 70. A resident of Love County most of his life, he married Doryce E. Hicks on June 8, 1946, at Gainesville, Texas.  Mr. Gipson was a retired business owner in retail and wholesale.  He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Gipson attended school at Jimtown Elementary and then Leon High School.  He was a commercial and private pilot, a commercial truck and bus driver, currently employed as a Turner School bus driver, an avid domino and spades player, coached his sons in Little League Baseball and enjoyed time with his pet Dalmatian, "Sparky." The strength, love and commitment shared by our dad as a father, grandfather, husband, brother and son will always be treasured and remembered.  His love and family values encompass all friends and family members, especially his grandchildren and daughters-in-law.  He was special and made all others feel special.  His teachings will always be instilled in our hearts and souls.  Dad will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Survivors include his mother, Vera Gipson Elkins of Marietta; his wife, Doryce Gipson of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Keith Alan & Diana Gipson of Oklahoma City, Michael Steve & Wanda Gipson of Texarkana, Texas, and Curtis & Tisch Gipson of Edmond; a brother, Wayne Gipson of Mustang; two sisters, Willie Dean Reed of Leon and Sharon Hartless of Marietta; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
