Born May 2, 1914, at Orr, Mr. Cartwright died March 12, 1997, in an Oklahoma City hospital following a sudden illness. He was the son of Frank and Josie Chitwood Cartwright.
A resident of Love County most of his life, he married Lille Mae Hollars on June 3, 1939, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Mr. Cartwright had been a farmer and rancher most of his life.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Rubottom Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie Cartwright of the home at Rubottom; three sisters, Irene Kemp of Whitesboro, Texas, Ida Auld of Rubottom and Wanda Chapman of Velma; two brothers, Walter Cartwright of Rush Springs and Jack Cartwright of Morton, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cartwright was preceded in death by three brothers, Elzie Cartwright, Philmon Cartwright and Harold Cartwright; and one sister Eddie Jackson.
Interment was in the Leon Cemetery under the direction of Reser Funeral Home, Ringling.
Casket bearers were nephews, Keith Isbell, Ray Russell, W.A. Auld, Jerrell Chapman, Don Cartwright and John Thomas Cartwright. Honorary bearers were the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class of the Rubottom Baptist Church.
