Services celebrating the life of Oca Mae Carlile, 82, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 26 in the Leon Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy May officiating.
Interment followed in the Leon Cemetery.
Born January 24, 1935, in Trenton, Missouri, the daughter of Bernice and
Flossie Hamilton Whitworth, she died Thursday, September 21, 2017, in
Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.
Oca worked in the aerospace industry in Tucson, Arizona, before
relocating to Gainesville, Texas, in 1978 to work at Weber Aircraft in
quality control/assembly. The following year, she and Claud Carlile were
married on November 15, and he preceded her in death on December 15,
1999.
The couple made their first home in Leon, and she began working at
Marietta Sportswear. Oca was extremely handy at crafts and loved making
things for the holidays and hosting holiday events. She always went out
of her way to care for family, no matter the situation. Her greatest
pleasure was spending time with grandchildren and watching them play
sports.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two daughters,
Shannon Swanbeck and Betty Morse.
Survivors include her son, Bill Kelley and wife Sue of Burneyville;
sister, Iris Griffin of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina; five grandchildren,
Kellie Brokaw of Ardmore, Alina Boatner of Marietta, C.K. Kelley and
wife Calico, and Chase Kelley of Burneyville, and Joey Boatner and wife
Nellie, also of Marietta; and six great-grandchildren, Megan Preston,
Braxten Kelley, Luke Kelley, J.D. Kelley, Kabe Kelley, and Jesse
Rushing.
Serving as pallbearers were C.K. Kelley, Chase Kelley, Joey Boatner,
Andy Viveros, John Preston, and Joel Hicks. Honorary bearers are Kenny
Carlile, Keith Snyder, Rob Viveros, Zac Viveros, and Josh Viveros;
special friend, Jamie Viveros; the Lake Country Nursing Center staff,
and countless others.
