J.C. Carlile was born August 8, 1931, at Simon, OK, the son of Paul Leonard and Adina Ann Kemp Carlile. He passed away Monday, August 27, 2012, at his residence at Leon. 
 
A farmer/rancher, J.C. had been a resident of Love County most of his life. He and Lucy Calicott were married June 12, 1953, in Fort Worth, TX. In addition to his farming and ranching operation, J.C. trained cow dogs and horses. He was one of the individuals in the County who was instrumental in the building of the Love County Fair Building and served as Superintendent of the Love County Junior Livestock Show for a number of years. J.C. coached Little League ball for many years and was an avid fan of the Dallas Mavericks. He was of the Baptist faith.
 
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, Jimmy Raymond "Jim" Carlile on January 1, 2012, and Larry Dale "Pete" Carlile on May 10, 2005; and two brothers, William Paul Carlile and Claude Carlile.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Curt and Cathy Carlile and Kenny and Sherry Carlile, all of Burneyville, OK; two daughters and son-in-law, Teresa and Carl Whitson of Krum, TX, and Janette Salazar of Corinth, TX; two daughters-in-law, Mary Lynn Carlile of Nocona, TX and Penny Carlile of Burneyville; sister and brother-in-law, Violet and John Enlow of Fort Worth; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
 
Serving as bearers will be grandson, Robert Carlile, K.C. Carlile and Josh Carlile, and Joe Stilley, Roy Cox and Thomas Evans. Honorary bearers are George Hicks, Joel Hicks, Tommy Hartman, Bob Bell, Dr. David Nichols, Gene Washburn, Charles Lain and Dr. Vergil Smith.
