Services for Calvin O. Buckhanon, 79, of Falconhead, were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 13, in the Marietta Church of Christ, with Dr. Virgil Trout officiating.

Interment was in Leon Cemetery. Arrangements were directed by Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.

Born October 21, 1925, at Jimtown, the son of Charlie Marion William “Bill” and Lillie Hyman Buckhanon, he died Wednesday, August 10, 2005, at Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.

Living in the Jimtown and Leon area most of his life, he moved to Falconhead in 1982. Mr. Buckhanon attended school at Jimtown and Leon. He and Georgie Belle Arthur were married September 10, 1948, at Gainesville, Texas, and she preceded him in death October 19, 2001. He enjoyed golf and flower gardening. Mr. Buckhanon was a member of the Falconhead Men’s Golf Association and the Leon Church of Christ. He was the owner of Buckhanon Construction and worked as a carpenter for more than 60 years.

Survivors include a son, Arthur Buckhanon of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Georgia Ann and Arnie Ramon of Ringling; a sister and brother-in-law, Odessa and Pete Hunt of Overbrook; five grandchildren, Dewayne Buckhanon and wife Melany, Lee Buckhanon and wife Michelle, Erik Ramon, Blake Ramon and Evan Ramon; and two great-grandchildren, Shani Buckhanon and Devyn Buckhanon.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers were Erik Ramon, Blake Ramon, Evan Ramon, Dewayne Buckhanon, Lee Buckhanon and Kenneth Gilbert. Honorary pallbearers were J.V. Clark, Tom Hammonds, Maurice Uhrmacher and the members of the Falconhead Men’s Golf Association.
