Interment followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.
She was born August 7, 1918 at Burneyville, the daughter of Cyrus Oliver and Lorener Cassity
McFadden. Surrounded by her loved ones at Mercy Health Love County,
Marietta, the Lord took her home Friday, January 7, 2011.
Born and raised in the Love
County area, Mrs. Willis attended school at Enville, Marietta and
Thackerville. She married Willard Olen Willis on October 19, 1935 at
Enville where they made their home and raised their children. They
celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2005.
Mrs. Willis was employed at Hicks
Department Store for several years before accepting a job with
Foodway Grocery where she worked as a checker for 20 years. She then
worked for Tim Hicks Department Store for 10 years before accepting
employment as a lunch lady with the Marietta Schools. She was
affectionately called “Ninnie” by the students and retired after
eight years. In addition she enjoyed cooking, canning, crocheting
and the time spent with family. Mrs. Willis loved her Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ, and enjoyed spending time in His Word daily.
She was baptized on December 13, 1957, and was a member of the
Marietta Church of Christ.
Mrs. Willis was preceded in death
by her husband on June 28, 2006; her parents; four brothers, Willie,
Clyde, Claude and Olen McFadden; and two sisters, Georgia Albers and
Emily McFadden.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, G.C. and Becky Willis of Ardmore; three daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and Jerry Vaughn of Talihina, Barbara and James Blakley of Wilson and Brenda and Roscoe Hicks of Marlow; 11 grandchildren, Pam Kerley, Kathy Kester, Kelly Harris, Kim Goss, Greg Willis, Reggie Willis, Marleen Adams, Melissa Williams, Michele Weatherford, Aron Hick and Stephanie Lemons; 24 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Larry Taliaferro, Vance Parr, David Banta, Tim Hicks, John Thompson and Al Freeman. Honorary bearers were Dr. Tom O’Connor, David McGehee, Ray King, Greg Hambrick, Bobby Stinson, Jim Bone, Scott Flanagan, Tom Hice, Duane Hicks, Joe Davis, Brad Randell, Joe Rowe, Quenton Russell, Victor Thompson, Travis Willis, Curtis Willis and B.F. Willis.
