Services for Alamito “Sug” White, 88, of the Eastman community, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, at the Marietta Church of Christ, with Bro. Travis Huffman and Dr. Virgil Trout officiating.

Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born January 23, 1919 in Marietta, the daughter of Oliver Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Scheiner Comer, she died Saturday, June 16, 2007, in Ardmore. A resident of Oklahoma most of her life Mrs. White had also made her home in Illinois, Colorado and California for brief periods. She and Lee White were married June 10, 1936, and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1976. A 1936 graduate of Marietta High School, Mrs. White also attended school at Pike and Burneyville. After graduating from Southeastern State College, she taught school for 28 years, mainly sixty grade, in addition to serving as basketball coach, speech instructor and 4-H Club sponsor. She also was a rancher for many years. Mrs. White was a member of the Eastern Star, the Oklahoma Education Association, the Oklahoma Retired Educators Association, and was a Pink Lady volunteer for Mercy Health Love County. She had been a member of the Marietta Church of Christ since the age of 12.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Rex and Margie White of Columbia, South Carolina, Harold and Sondra White of the Eastman community, and Lee and Joan White of Ardmore; a daughter and son-in-law, Janie and David Horton of Ardmore; nine grandchildren, Ricky, Rex, Jr., Scott, Todd, Jennifer, Johnmark, Michael, Kathryn and Mark; and eight great-grandchildren, Janssen, Ethan, Kyndal, Reagan, Maggie, Sarah, Britney and Bethney.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Frank Comer, Henry Comer, Wylie Comer and Son Comer; and two sisters, Marietta Comer Dethloff and Katherine Comer Beeson.

Pallbearers were Derek Hallum, Kent Shankles, Robert Williams, Allen Woody, Mike Fitts and Frank Lornes Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Rhoades, John Thompson, Joe Davis, Lance Parker, R.J. Howerton, Bill Flanagan, David Flanagan, Donnell Cox, and all of her former students.
