Mr. Westmoreland was born September 14, 1924, in Leon, the son of Mason and Lillie Mae King Westmoreland, and died December 11, 1994, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta, at the age of 70.
Mr. Westmoreland had been a resident of Marietta since 1962, moving here from California. He was a retired boilermaker, a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and of the Church of Christ belief. He married the former Lou Ellen Puryear on April 19, 1946, in Marietta.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lou Ellen Westmoreland of the home in Marietta; three sons, Gary Westmoreland of the home, Terry Westmoreland of Marietta and Henry Clay Westmoreland, Jr. of Denton, Texas; two daughters, Melvina Daugherty of Marietta and Pamela Jones of Gainesville, Texas; two brothers, Bobby M. Westmoreland of Ardmore and Burris Westmoreland of Roseburg, Oregon; a sister, Alma Faye Stevens of Marietta; and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Westmoreland was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Westmoreland and Leonard Westmoreland.
Services were directed by the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in Lakeview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenny Gwin, Ray Clevenger, Kenneth Westmoreland, Gene Shepherd, Ralph Blalock and Gordon Godfrey.
