Services for Willis Anne Washburn, 77, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 2, in Marietta’s First Baptist Church with the Revs. Tommy Higle, Jeff McLemore and Les Bussell officiating.

Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born July 13, 1931 in Enid, the daughter of Willis Hugh and Rubye Louise Goodman Germany, she died Saturday, September 27, 2008 in Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore. Following high school graduation, she attended DePaul University in Indiana for two years. She and L.E. “Gene” Washburn were married July 3, 1963 in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Washburn was Heart Association, actively involved in fundraising activities. The couple moved to Marietta to make their home in 1971. Mrs. Washburn was very involved in community activities. She was hired as Marietta Elementary School secretary in 1982, a position she enjoyed for more than 10 years. Mrs. Washburn also served on the Board of Directors for FirstBank in Marietta and had been a member of the Ardmore PEO Chapter EZ since 1969, serving two terms as the group’s president. In addition, she was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary for Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore for many years. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, Marietta, and had served as church pianist for 30 years. A wonderful wife, homemaker and one of the world’s best cooks, Mrs. Washburn loved to entertain family and friends. She was a lady of quiet strength who influenced many individuals of all ages. Her hobbies included reading, working crossword puzzles and knitting.

Survivors include her husband, L.E. “Gene” Washburn of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Carla Stauter and Bryan and Donna Stauter of Idabel, and Kevin and Brandi Washburn of College Station, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Don Sutton of Mesa, Arizona, Jolyne and Tom Saum of Marietta and Cindy and Bobby Kennedy of Idabel; a brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Charles and Julie Germany of Maplewood, New Jersey; a sister, Barbara Fiscus of Fort Worth, Texas; 15 grandchildren, Erin and Gavin Borowiak, Chris and Denise Baltzer, Kimberly and James Cobb, Ryan and Amber Saum, Whitney Stauter, Chelsea Stauter, Erica Anne Stauter, Nick Stauter, Jaime Washburn, Blake Washburn, Cade Washburn, Trint and Jill Trapp, Lisa Kennedy, Wendy Callahan, and Tina and Tracy Smith; and 11 great-grandchildren, Bryant Cobb, Payton Cobb, Chase Hibbard, Colt Saum, Hayden Baltzer, Zach Kennedy, Hannah Kennedy, Riley Callahan, Jace Smith, Clancy Paul Trapp and Auzy Luke Trapp.

She was preceded in death by her father; the Rev. Willis Germany; mother, Rubye Germany; and a sister, Marjorie Germany.

Pallbearers were Bridge Cox, Tom Barnes, Virgil Teague, Ed Chambers, King Martin and Ken Delashaw.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Love County Health Center Fundation, Inc. in care of the funeral home. Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home
