Services for Pauline Warthen, 81, of Marietta, were held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 21 in The Covenant of Grace Church, Marietta, with Sister Angela Harrison officiating.

Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born December 10, 1927 at Enville, the daughter of James C. and Maggie L. Watkins Harris, she died Thursday, September 17, 2009.

Attending school in Love County, Mrs. Warthen graduated from Burneyville High School in 1946. She attended college in Durant and at Oklahoma Presbyterian College, then returned to Marietta and married the love of her life, W.T. Warthen on February 29, 1948. Mrs. Warthen was a Love County Election Board precinct worker for many years, helped found the Pioneer Museum in Marietta, and was a longtime member of the Love County Historical Society. She was very active in the Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 57 years. As a loving mother and lifelong homemaker, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking, taking nature walks, bird watching, and hosting family gatherings.

Survivors include a son, three daughters, and their spouses, Winston Thomas Jr. and Sue Warthen, Gale and Roy Wickware, Jan McCarthy and Paula and Charles Bench; eight grandchildren, Todd, Aric, Kevin and Devin Wickware, Mischelle Brown, Matthew Bench, Miranda Fincher and Brian T. Warthen; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, J.C. Harris; a sister, Esther Barrick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Warthen was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Reba Teague and Joyce Sharp.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Kevin Wickware, Devin Wickware, Todd Wickware, Matthew Bench, Caleb Fincher and Brian T. Warthen. Honorary pallbearers were Aric Wickware, Lance Hockersmith and Lynn Hockersmith.
