Services for Leland A. “Stony” VanSant were at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Higle and Rev. Bobby Burt officiating.

Born January 22, 1904, in Marietta, Indian Territory, Mr. VanSant died September 27, 1993, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta, at the age of 89. He was the son of Leland Franklin and Ida Mae Peterman VanSant.

Mr. VanSant was a retired civil engineer and had lived in Marietta most of his life. His family owned and operated the VanSant Hotel in Marietta for many years. Mr. VanSant was a member of Marietta’s First Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sisters, Anna Bell Alexander of Marietta, Virginia Lee Smith of Quapaw, and Betty Jo Lofton of Kirkland, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. VanSant was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Interment in Lakeview Cemetery was under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers were Bill Looney, Bill Wolfe, Ray Lunsford, Bill Dvorak, Vernon Griffin and Stayton Saunders.
