On Saturday evening on January 15, 2022, the world lost a beautiful soul, Peggy Dale Sykora at the age of 80 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, OK.

Her journey in life began in Shady Dale, OK on May 18, 1941, born to K.A. “Bob” and Jewell (Brown) Foster. A 1959 graduate of Marietta High School, Peggy was the class Valedictorian and All Conference Forward in Basketball. She married the love of her life Charles J. “Butch” Sykora on January 23, 1960 in Ardmore. Two months shy of celebrating their 55th anniversary, he preceded her in death on November 10, 2014.

Peggy’s hobbies included quilting, fishing, sewing, doll collecting, and playing the piano. She was also a card and board game enthusiast with her family. Her greatest pleasures were raising her family and participating in her grandchildren’s activities. Anytime she would talk about her grandchildren, she would have the biggest and brightest smile. Peggy followed her husband to assignments in the Philippines, Turkey, and other Air Force bases in the U.S., where she was always an avid traveler and historian. Peggy was a substitute teacher in county schools, assisted the funeral home with visitation, and an active member of the Shady Dale Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, Peggy was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles Joe and Mabel Sykora.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her three sons and daughters-in-law, Dale Sykora and wife Malinda of Virginia Beach, VA, Craig Sykora and wife Karen of Papillion, NE, and Brent Sykora and wife Tina of Marietta, OK; one brother, Lewis Foster and wife Jo of Shady Dale; stepsister, Erma Murphy of Gainesville, TX; seven grandchildren, Joshua Sykora and spouse Judy, Samantha McKora and spouse Kelly, Luke Sykora, Mallory Langley and spouse Dalton, Bailey Sykora, Jake Sykora, and Mandy Sykora; and five great-grandchildren, Raiden Sykora, Kaleia Sykora, Leilani Sykora, Ko’Olina Sykora, and Kahlo McKora.

Services to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the Shady Dale Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Young officiating.

Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Casket bearers are Steve Foster, Bobby Foster, Scott Foster, Mike Hill, Bobby Hill, Gerald Tow, and Chad Sykora. Honorary bearers are the members of the Shady Dale Baptist Church and members of the Shady Dale Volunteer Fire Department.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Shady Dale Baptist Church or the Shady Dale Volunteer Fire Department.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
