Services for Waine Eugene “Pops” Stephens, 67, of Marietta were held Thursday, August 8 at 2 p.m. in Marietta’s Eastside Baptist Church with Gary Stephens officiating.

Interment followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born February 3, 1946 in Marietta, the son of Harvey L. and Rosie Rebecca Roper Stephens, he died Saturday, August 3, 2013 in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta. He was the 13th child of his parents and also had a half brother and half sister. Waine was the last living child of Harvey and Rosie Stephens.

Waine grew up in Marietta but moved to Dallas for a short while. He later returned to Marietta and lived the remainder of his life in the family home. Waine worked as an inspector at a machine shop many year and retired from Pitts Industry. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren and people in general, whether friends or someone he just met. Waine also enjoyed talking and telling stories and sharing the word of God at any given opportunity. He didn’t want anyone to miss a chance to go to heaven.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Wesley; and siblings, Herbert, Gladys, Vela Bell, Leonard, Roy, Charlie, Lillie, Harvey Jr., Bill, Marie and John.

Waine’s surviving children include his son, Bruce Stephens of Roanoke, Texas and daughter, Shaderia McFadin of Dallas; grandchildren Bradley McFadin, son of Shaderia McFadin, and Lesley Stephens Sigman, daughter of Wesley Stephens; and great-granddaughter, Harper Sigman.

Mr. Stephens was a father figure, grandfather figure, family and/or extended family to so many more.

Mentionables are Mary Stephens, Tristin Stephens, Dwight, Carmen, Madison, Ken, Laquita, Kenny, David, Billy “Skeet”, Chevy, Nick, Jeremy, Michael, Brittany, Bobby Ray, Justin, Cassandra, Dylan, Garrett, Mary, Richie, Shelly, Nathan and others.

Casket bearers were Bobby Spradling, Billy “Skeet” Lambert, Nick Lambert, Chevy Lambert, Richie Rossi and Aaron Stephens.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Officer Toi Bone and EMT’s who worked so diligently Saturday to save their father’s life.
