Tracey E. Smithwick was born June 2, 1965, in Ardmore, OK, the son of James and Norma Gibbs Smithwick. He passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at his residence in Marietta at the age of 50. 
 
Tracey had been a resident of Marietta his entire life. He attended Marietta Public Schools and was a member of Marietta's First Baptist Church, having been baptized in 1980. 
 
At the time of his death, he was the Emergency Management Director for the City of Marietta and Love County, a position he had held for more than 20 years. In addition, he served as a firefighter for more than 20 years, at one time was the reserve police chief, trained new reserve officers and was instrumental in the development of E-911 and the NEMSIS communication system in Love County. For his diligence and efforts in these various community positions, he was recognized with numerous awards and certificates. 
 
Tracey was an avid Texas Rangers fan, watched NASCAR faithfully, and also enjoyed watching wrestling on television. However, most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
 
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Edward Smithwick and Roy and Lois Porter; a sister, Kimberly Smithwick.

He is survived by his parents, James and Norma Smithwick; son, Zack Smithwick of Marietta; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Trevor McComber of Ardmore, OK; sister and brother-in-law, Britney and Glendal Baker of Okemah, OK; grandmother, Marie Smithwick of Marietta; and the mother of his children, Terri Smithwick, also of Marietta.
 
Serving as casket bearers will be Mike Buxton, Scott Chaney, Terry Vernon, Dusty Michael, Charles Willis, and Todd Wickware. Honorary bearers are James Moffett, firemen from all of Love County's fire departments as well as Emergency Management Directors from throughout the State of Oklahoma.
