Marie E. Smithwick, the daughter of Samuel and Nellie Williams Overstreet, was born June 17, 1924, in Marietta, OK. She passed away in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta, on Thursday, September 7, at the age of 93.
 
A graduate of Marietta High School, Marie had been a resident of Love County most of her life. She and Edward J. Smithwick were married in Marietta on June 5, 1943, and he preceded her in death on February 24, 1981. Marie worked as a line supervisor at Marietta Sportswear for many years. She was a very independent woman who loved gardening and visiting at the hospital and nursing home. Marie was a member of Marietta's Eastside Baptist Church.
 
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Joe Don Smithwick, Charles Smithwick, and Richard Smithwick; grandson, Tracey Smithwick on September 23, 2015; three sisters, Jewell Couser, Hazel Montgomery, and Inez Brashear; and an infant brother, Alvin Leon Overstreet.
 
She is survived by a son, James Smithwick and wife Norma of Marietta; granddaughter Britney Baker and husband Glendal; and three great-grandchildren, Galen Hawes, Logan Hawes, and Zack Smithwick.
 
Serving as casket bearers are David Bell, Joe Bell, Brayden Brashear, Dillon Trail, Vernon Smith, Travis Eaton, and Robert Williams.
