Services for Joe B. Simpson were Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.in the Chapel of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Miller, pastor of the Eastside Baptist Church, officiating.

Mr. Simpson was born April 8, 1912, in Love County, the son of Grover and Sally Weatherly Simpson, and died August 11, 1991, at his home in Marietta.

Mr. Simpson had lived in Love County all of his life. He retired as a truck driver in 1975 and was then employed by Love County District 3 for 11 years. Mr. Simpson married the former Eva Barfield January 21, 1949, in Sherman, Texas. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eva Simpson of the home in Marietta two sons, Billy Joe Simpson of Goodman, Missouri, and Jerry Ray Simpson of Marietta; a daughter, Mary Kay Whittington of Thackerville; a step-son, Raymond Anglin of Kankakee, Illinois; two brothers, Orville Simpson of Milburn and Charlie Simpson of Lebanon; a sister, Bess Choate of Marietta; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Interment in Lakeview Cemetery was under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers were Rod Shankles, Billy Wayne Shankles, Tommy Choate, Danny Simpson, Arnold Simpson, and Rainford Burton.
