A Life Well-Lived

Today my mind travels back
As I roll back the pages of time
Back when we were 10 feet tall
And living in life's prime.

Tommy said when the budget was depleted
Mom said to me "Daughter"
I know "I'll make a pot of soup"
"I'll just add more water."

When her child she believed mistreated
She thought that teacher as louse
She said "How do we get even?"

"I know, let's toilet paper her house."

When we're young with a family
Sometimes our budget very thin
But those memories are a treasure
As we think of where we've been.

No, our lives haven't been all roses
But love makes it worth the thorns
So to those youngsters who will follow
Stop and smell the roses and take life by the horns.

This now brings us to the present
As Rosalind like Paul would say
"I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith
I have finished the course"
I believe she's with Jesus today.

As we close this life celebration
And her testimony of God's grace
I think she would say "Family:
It's not in life's beginning, but
How you finish the race."

Enjoy your memories
Let the tears flow
Share sorrows and dreams with family
That helps your love grow.

May God's peace go with you
As we must say goodbye
Some memories will being laughter
But today we cry.
