Services for Thamon O. (Buddy) Robinson, 89, of Bonham, Texas were held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 9 in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brett Alberda officiating.

Interment, with military honors, followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born September 22, 1924 in Marietta, the son of Nina (Hughes) Jackson and Luther Robinson, he died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in the Clyde Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham. Mr. Robinson was a member of the United States Army and proudly served during World War II. After returning, he married Mary Lee Oliver on May 13, 1951 in Colorado City, Texas. They resided in Westbrook and Lamesa, Texas before moving to Sherman, Texas in 1968. He then continued his career as a pumper with Chevron Oil Company, retiring in 1987 after 23 years of service. He greatly enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and being a part of their lives. He was an avid horseman, enjoying time spent with family and friends at play days, rodeos, horse shows, and gathering around campfires on trail riders. There is no doubt that Buddy, as well as many others born of his generation, was a testament of the Greatest Generation. He will be missed.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 57 years; his parents; brothers, Raymond, George and Billy Robinson and a son, Wayne Robinson.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Schmitz and husband Burl of Sherman and Lawana Downs and husband Mike of Van Alstyne, Texas; six grandchildren, Chris Schmitz of McKinney, Texas, Heather Schmitz of Sherman, Guinnevere Simons of Bells, Texas, Mike Downs, Jr. of Tom Bean, Texas, Trey Downs of Sherman and Shelby Downs of Denton, Texas; nine great-grandchildren and sisters, Edna Hill and Bonnie Glenn of Marietta.

Serving as pallbearers were Mike Downs, Burl Schmitz, Trey Downs, Chris Schmitz, Mike Downs, Jr. and Kirk Simons.
