Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta. Arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
Born April 16, 1914, at Pike, the daughter of John w. and Mattie Ethel Abney Black, she died Monday, February 28, 2005, at Elmbrook Home in Ardmore.
A resident of Ardmore, she previously lived in Ada for 22 years. Mrs. Proffer was a graduated of Courtney High School and Ardmore Business College. She and James Proffer were married March 23, 1940, and he preceded her in death February 7, 1959. Mrs. Proffer retired from Montgomery Ward as credit manager. She had been employed with the company 31 years.
Survivors include a brother, David Black of Burneyville; and a sister, Ethel Walden of Plano, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Home Black and Wesley Black; and two sisters, Virginia Black and Audry May Hearell.
Pallbearers were her nephews. Honorary pallbearer was Joe Proffer.
