Buddy Charles Powell was born July 19, 1939, in Love County, OK, the son of Bud V. and Mary Ann (Suggs) Powell. He passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Mercy Health Love County at the age of 82.

Buddy was a lifelong area resident. He went all twelve years at Thackerville, OK graduating with the Class of 1956. While in high school, he excelled in basketball and FFA. After graduation, Buddy began his work career in Heavy Equipment specializing in dozer operations working in many locations such as building Interstate 35 through the Arbuckle Mountains in Oklahoma, building the Lake Dam at Lake Kiowa, TX, and clearing land for the Terry Bradshaw Ranch in Thackerville. His hobbies were watching PBR, enjoying any horse activity, and visiting with family and friends. Buddy married the love of his life Niki Brock on April 11, 1970, and they were happily married for 51 years. They had five children, Ethan, Jonathan, Tami, Laurie, and Elizabeth.
 
Survivors include his wife, Niki Powell of the home; sons, Ethan Powell and wife Bettina of Lewisville, TX and Jonathan Powell of Decatur, TX; daughters, Tami Rutledge of Arizona, Laurie Roper and husband Richard of Thackerville, and Elizabeth King and husband Zack of Marietta; grandchildren, Lance, Leah, Jonathan, Samantha, Jessica, Chealsia, Mariah, Matthew, Brock, Ali, Graci, and Lesly; numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings, Nelson “Dude” Powell, Ann Faulkenberry, and Caroline Ryan.
 
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by grandson, Arron Rutledge; and siblings Velma Trivelpiece, Eileen Jones, Claudine Monkres, Joyce Varner, and Aubrey (Hop) Powell.
 
Honorary bearers are his grandchildren.
