Early morning Saturday, November 20, 2021, the world lost a beautiful soul, Kathryn Juanita Moore at the age of 97 years young. Her journey in life began in Gainesville, Texas on December 2, 1923, born to George and Frances Bennett Porter.

Kathryn grew up in Gainesville, graduating from Gainesville High School in 1941. She continued her education at Texas Women's University majoring in nutrition. Kathryn married David Wade "D.W." Moore on September 13, 1943 in Gainesville. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2001.

Kathryn was a longtime area resident moving to Marietta in January of 1946. She worked as a telephone operator in the 40's and 50's for Southwestern Bell. In the 80's she worked as the librarian for the Chickasaw Library System. Kathryn's love for educating others and passion for reading made her a very successful librarian. When she wasn't working as a librarian, she worked as a census taker. Kathryn was a member of the Women's Missionary Union since 1946 and a member of the Rose Garden Club since 1947. Her favorite membership was with the Marietta First Baptist Church. Kathryn loved spending time with her family and friends, but her family was her main priority.

In addition to her husband and parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by two infant sons; granddaughter, Cheyanne Johnson; and sisters, Janece Felton and Frankie Hilton.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Carl J. Moore and Sam R. Moore and wife Tabitha, all of Marietta; daughters, Marlene Ward and husband Jim of Angleton, Texas and Helen J. Moore and husband Tony Neely of Ardmore; grandchildren, David Riley Moore, Sarah Gilbert, Jonathan Garza, Carly Moore, and Jerron Moore; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate Kathryn's life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 29 at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta, with Reverend Sam Porter officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Serving as casket bearers are Sean Felton, Dan Moore, Allan Moore, John Moore, Tony Neely, and David Moore. Honorary bearers are Jon Garza, David Riley Moore, Dave Moore, Jim Ward, and Danny Atterberry.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Home for Girls in Madill.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 28 from 3 until 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
