Services for Dr. Donald W. Martin, 81, of Pauls Valley will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13 in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta.

Born in Redland, the son of Clyde Ernest and Kate Virginia Rhoten Martin, he died Monday, June 8, 2015 at Carolinas Healthcare Center-Cleveland in Shelby, North Carolina.

Don was a graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma University, the University of Oklahoma, and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He taught band, chorus and gave voice lessons in Oklahoma, Tennessee and Kentucky as well as serving as Minister of Music in several churches in those states. Don loved music and his family.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Suzanne Chasteen Martin of the home in Pauls Valley; two sons, Mark Martin and Mike Martin and wife Becky, both of Pauls Valley; two daughters, Malesa Mitchell of Pauls Valley and Mary Roby and husband Andrew of Shelby; a sister, Carolyn Bullock and husband Wallace of Idabel; five grandchildren, Thomas Martin, Micah Prince and husband Branden, Rachel Nall and husband Daniel, David Roby, and Paul Mitchell; and two great-grandchildren, Bennett Prince and Karsen Prince.

The family suggests memorials to The Music Ministry of First Baptist Church, 120 North Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28150.

The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church in Pauls Valley from 6 until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 12, and also an hour before the service on Saturday at the Funeral Home.
