Services for Opal Lavada Lemons, 93, of Lynden, Washington (formerly of Marietta) were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 5 in the Marietta Church of Christ with Bro. Les McGalliard officiating.

Interment followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born October 13, 1919 in Caradan, Texas, the daughter of Oream Dearl and Virgie Virginia Denton Conway, she died Friday, March 29, 2013 in the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden. Mrs. Lemons was a homemaker and an active member of the Home Extension Group, the Busy Bees and was also honored as Homemaker Of The Year. She sewed for her family as well as for the community and made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. She and E.L. “Boog” Lemons were married August 13, 1938 in Marietta, and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1990. The couple made their home in the Enville community for more than 50 years where they farmed and ranched. After her husband’s death, Mrs. Lemons moved to Marietta. She attended the Lebanon Church of Christ and then the Church of Christ in Marietta. Mrs. Lemons had been a resident of Lynden for the past six and one-half years.

Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Barbara Sue Clifton; a son, Wesley Dearl Lemons; a brother, Verlion Conway; a sister, Trelvia Gaither; a great-grandson, Dalton Harbour; and a great-granddaughter, Payton Harbour.

Survivors include a son, Gary Wayne Lemons of Enville; two daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and Bennie Martin of Lynden and Teressia Jane Shaw of Fort Worth, Texas; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dalton and Irene Conway of Lone Grove, Hugh Conway of Bakersfield, California and Wendyl and Mary Conway of Tuttle; a sister, Glada Helen Griffin of Moore; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Lemons of Marietta; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were grandchildren, Tracy Lemons, Jason Lemons, Tony Clifton, Cindy Harbour, David Lemons and Joley Lemons. Honorary bearers were grandsons, Chad Martin and Greg Martin, Dr. Tom O’Connor and Travis Huffman.
