A Celebration of Life for Dr. Henry Cecil “Sonny” Horn, III, 76, of Marietta were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 3 in the Chapel of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta with Brother Tony Lalli officiating.

A private family interment followed in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born January 28, 1944 at Ardmore, the son of Henry Cecil, Jr. and Billie Pauline Ficklin Horn, he died Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Carrus Specialty Hospital, Sherman, Texas. Sonny was a graduate of Marietta High School with the Class of 1962. He continued his education receiving a Doctorate from Southwestern State University School of Pharmacy in 1967. While in college, he married Beulah Irene Dromgoole on May 28, 1965 and she preceded him in death on July 10, 1985. After graduation, they opened Horn’s Marietta Drug from 1967 to 1997. After he sold the pharmacy, Sonny freelanced for pharmacies throughout Texas and Oklahoma. He worked as a pharmacist for 53 years. He enjoyed taking road trips and going on cruises to various destinations around the world. When he was not traveling, he loved watching Westerns and utilizing his dogs to trail birds. He married Vernetta Dozier on June 27, 2006. He was a member of the Marietta church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; son, Jeffrey Ho rn; and grandson, Nash Rohde.

 Survivors include his wife Vernetta of the home; sons, Henry Cecil “Hal” Horn, IV and wife Tambra of Plano, Texas and David Micah Horn of Marietta; two step-daughters, Amanda and Amasa Burlison of Plano and Autumn Rohde and husband Brian of Northlake, Texas; and four grandchildren.
