Interment followed in Lakeview
Cemetery, Marietta.
Born August 23, 1928, at Tioga, Texas, the son of Ray Chester and
Lucille Craft Hood, he died Saturday, April 30, 2016, in Lake Country
Nursing Center, Marietta.
A resident of Love County most of his life, Johnny attended school in
Sadler, Texas, and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married Myrtle Marie Martin in Gainesville, Texas, on August 15,
1950. A member of the Boilermakers Union, Johnny worked as a boilermaker
and welder. He was a true history buff, always anxious to read history
books and discuss events of historical nature. He also enjoyed playing
dominos and quail hunting. Johnny was a member of the Love County Quail
Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Jackson Hood;
three sisters, Bobbie Huff, Catherine Eidd, and Judy Vickery; and a
niece, Rhonda Riley.
Survivors include his wife, Marie "Tootsie" Hood of the home; three
brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Jackie Hood of Stockton,
California, Gene and Doris Hood of Ozona, Texas, and Tommy and Joyce
Hood of Whitesboro, Texas; three sisters, Margie Pinion of Bethany,
JoAnn McMullins of Arlington, Texas, and Martha Gessick of McKinney,
Texas; several brothers-in-law; and 21 nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Mark Pinion, Trenton Scribner, Gene Hood,
Jackie Blackmon, Jim Curry, and Louis Martin.
