Services for Bernice Mae Virginia “Sissie” Morton Hartman, 72, of Burneyville will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 30 in the First Baptist Church of Thackerville with Reverend Harold D. Morton, Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born May 17, 1946, at Fort Smith, Arkansas, the daughter of Harold Duncan and Berniece Lorene Gilliam Morton, she died Saturday, November 24, 2018, at her residence in Burneyville. A graduate of Depew High School, class of 1963, Bernice had been a resident of Thackerville for a number of years before moving to Burneyville to make her home following her marriage to Jackie Utah Hartman. The couple was married on September 25, 2004 at Burneyville, and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2006. Mrs. Hartman had been employed as an executive secretary in both radio broadcasting and the oil industry. In addition, she was a songwriter, singer, and musician, and while in high school was runner-up in shorthand competition at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. Sissie enjoyed camping, watching the campfire, collecting pretty rocks, and shopping at garage sales. Of the Pentecostal faith, she loved the Lord and made sure her children knew Him well. Sissie truly loved her family and loved, cared for, fed, and sheltered many people throughout her life.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Utah Hartman; brother, James Richard Morton; and four nieces, Christian Ann Morton, Regina Teafatiller, Heather Teafatiller, and Becca Teafatiller.

Survivors include a son, Randall Curtis “Randy” Liddell of Thackerville; two daughters, Ramona Liddell of Thackerville and Brenna Hunt and husband Fred of Sulphur; four brothers, David Morton of Marietta, Harold Morton and wife Marilyn of Conroe, Texas, Timmy Morton of Elmore City, and Mark Morton of Dallas; two sisters, Joyce Allman and husband Cliff of Pittsburg, Kansas, and Becky Turner ad husband Albert of Elmore City; five grandchildren, Justin, Harley, Jonathon, Zoe, and Dakota; and seven great-grandchildren, Leon, Bodie, Hagen, Kason, Brenley, Jaxson, and Bruce.

Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Liddell, Fred Hunt, Jonathon Wolfe, Dakota Piechocki, Albert Turner, and Nathan Teafatiller. Honorary bearers are Devin Hagle and Timmy “Timbone” Morton.

A time of visitation for family and friends was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, November 29 at the funeral home.
