ALVIS EUGENE "BILLY" HARRIS
March 10, 1923 - March 7, 2007
Services for Alvis Eugene “Billy” Harris, 83, of the Enville community, were held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 9, in the Eastside Baptist Church, Marietta, with the Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating. Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.
Born March 10, 1923, in the Enville community in Love County, the son of Alvis Maddison and Hattie Watson Harris, he died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Mercy Health/Love County Hospital, Marietta.
A resident of Love County all of his life, Mr. Harris was a farmer and rancher his entire life. He and Ella Mae Kelley were married October 19, 1940 in Madill. Mr. Harris loved his farm and his cattle, as well as enjoying coon hunting and running trotlines.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae Harris of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rickey and Brenda Harris of Oklahoma City and Billy Van and Tina Harris of Marietta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Dale Harris of Marietta and Shirley and Larry Jones of Thackerville; a son-in-law, Charles McKay of Marietta; a sister, Glenda Irene Elmore of Frederick; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Connie McKay on May 24,1993.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Kevin Harris, Kent Harris, George Jones, Billy Joe Jones, Brandon Harris and Aaron Harris. Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters, Dena Felton, Dana Townsend, Cindy Hartman, Charla Gwin, Cassey Henry, Christina King, Amy Sampson, Tammy Davis, Dakotah Harris, Calico Harris and Shiloh Harris.
