Graveside services for David Autry Griffin, 66, were at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Lakeview Cemetery with Dr. Stan Beason, minister of Marietta’s First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Born August 16, 1930, in the Greenville community, Mr. Griffin died March 26, 1997, at his residence in Marietta. He was the son of James Paul and Berta Mae Peery Griffin.

A resident of Love County all of his life, Mr. Griffin was retired from the oil field. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the ski patrol unit. Mr. Griffin was of the Protestant faith.

He is survived by a son, David Wayne Griffin of Marietta; three brothers, Vernon Griffin and Warren Griffin of Marietta and Paul Griffin of Moore; a sister, Lavonne Roe of Dallas, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by two sisters, Lavelle Galloway and Chlorita Griffin; and a brother, Bill Griffin.

Assisting as pallbearers were David Patty, Jimmy Don Fincher, Buddy Motsenbocker, Larry Hull, Gary Hull and Doug Barger.

Services were directed by Kennedy Funeral Home.
