Services for Ruth J. Goldsmith of the Eastman community were conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Eastman Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Logan officiating.

Born April 20, 1909, at Erick, the daughter of William Thomas and Hattie Jane Galloway Daily, Mrs. Goldsmith died May 5, 1999, in the Eastman community.

A resident of Love County most of her life, she married Robert H. “Bob” Goldsmith June 16, 1928, at Mount Calm, Texas. Mrs. Goldsmith was a homemaker and a member of the Eastman Baptist church where she taught Sunday School for many years. During the mid-1970’s, Mr. and Mrs. Goldsmith were selected as Frontier Days King and Queen.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Taylor and Ann Goldsmith of the Eastman community, Robert and Deloris Goldsmith of Waco, Texas, and Bill and Mary Goldsmith of Kingston; a brother-in-law, Hardy Williams of Marietta; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Goldsmith was preceded in death by her husband on August 26, 1983; three brothers, Perry Daily, Walter Daily and Paul Daily; and seven sisters, (twins) Willie Bell Lebkowsky and Lillie Bell Daily, Jewel Wilkerson, Lola Kellogg, Delma Williams, Cordie McHargue and Stella Webb.

Services were directed by Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in Lakeview Cemetery.

Grandchildren and great-grandchildren served as casket bearers. Honorary bearers were the Eastman Baptist Church Women’s Sunday School Class, J.C. Montgomery, Bub Williams, Royce Willis and Ray French.
