Services for Barbara Joy Gillaspy, 79, of Ardmore were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 21 in the First Baptist Church of Ardmore with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating.

Interment followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born July 5, 1932 at Petersburg, the daughter of Willie and Eva Lonie Williams Linville, she died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at her residence.

A 1950 graduate of Courtney High School, Mrs. Gillaspy lived on Highway 32 west of Turner School from 1953 to 1957 and in 1958 moved to Ardmore to make her home. She and Altus Rae Gillaspy were married April 14, 1951 in Marietta in the home of Judge and Mrs. Monroe. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Gillaspy served as director of the Calvary Baptist Day Care and the Gloria Ainsworth Day Care. She enjoyed children and especially loved caring for her grandchildren. Mrs. Gillaspy was a member of Ardmore’s First Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters, Wilma Rambo, Betty Jo Pruitt and Theda Lowe; and a brother, Ray Linville.

Survivors include her husband, Altus R. Gillaspy of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Heather Gillaspy of Norman, Kenny and Talonna Gillaspy of Ardmore, and Stevie Gillaspy of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and J.W. Blackwell of Ardmore; a sister, Patsy Rambo of California; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several close nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Clayton Corbin, Nick Hahn, Jacob Renfro, Ronald Gillaspy, Gary Gillaspy and Ricky Walker. Honorary bearers were Walter McAnally, Bob Longest and Mrs. Gillaspy’s granddaughters.
