Graveside services for Willie Mae Freeman, 82, of Thackerville were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 14 in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta with Pastor Shane Norton officiating.

Born September 11, 1936, in Cooke County, Texas, the daughter of Jay Luke and Opal Lee West Lones, she died Friday, January 11, 2019, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta.

Willie Mae and Charles Freeman were married on December 17, 1951. The couple farmed, ranched and operated Westside Texaco in Gainesville, Texas. In addition to being a faithful and supportive wife, she also worked as a salesperson retiring from K-Mart in Gainesville. Her hobbies included sewing and fishing.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Edward Lones.

Survivors include her husband, Charles of the home in Thackerville; sister, Frances Pilcher of Gainesville; niece, Jana Spencer of Marlow; and three nephews, Ronnie Spencer of Duncan, Mike Howard of California and Colton Howard of Texas.

Graveside services with military honors for Charles Lyndon Freeman, 88, of Thackerville were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 26 in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta with Lawrence Anderson officiating.

Born November 3, 1931 in Love County, the son of Mike and Lucy Pearl Reeves Freeman, he died Sunday, December 22, 2019 at the Gainesville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Gainesville, Texas.

Charles spent most of his life in Love County. He attended schools at Meadowbrook, Shady Dale and Marietta. He married Willie Mae Lones on December 17, 1951. She preceded him in death on January 11, 2019. Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was inducted on December 4, 1952 and was honorably discharged on November 30, 1960. Charles was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After serving in the Army, he farmed and ranched, then owned and operated Westside Texaco in Gainesville for many years. Charles loved hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Freeman, and two sisters, Jeannie Howard and Wanda Howard.

Survivors include three nephews, Ronnie Spencer and wife Ann of Duncan, Colton Howard of College Station, Texas and Mike Howard of California; niece, Jana Spencer of Marlow; cousin, Brenda Minyard and husband Leroy of Yukon; and very special friends, Steve, Allison and Cooper Hicks of Thackerville.
