Ada Jo (Chambers) Foster

Ada Jo Foster was born November 20, 1935 in Jimtown, OK the daughter of Sam Garvey and Ina Pearl (McBride) Chambers. She passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at the Lake Country Nursing Center in Marietta, OK at the age of 87.
 
Jo was a lifelong area resident. She attended Burneyville school until the 10th grade and then moved to Marietta where she attended school. Jo played on the basketball team and met her high school sweetheart, William Lewis Foster. They married on May 30, 1953 in Shady Dale, OK and they moved to Ardmore, OK for 19 years where they raised their four children. In 1972, they moved to Marietta where Jo worked for Gary Rankin Insurance Agency until they purchased Love County Ford in January of 1986 where she worked until retirement in November of 1997.
 
Jo and Lewis watched all kinds of sports of their children and grandchildren, trying hard not to miss a game. She enjoyed watching sports on TV with Lewis. Some of her favorite teams are the Golden State Warriors, OKC Thunder, Dallas Mavericks, OU Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers. Sitting on her porch swing and planting flowers were favorite pastimes. Jo loved to go shopping with Lisa and listening to Neil Diamond and attending his concert in April of 2017. She loved her Sunday school class and her church, First Baptist Church of Marietta, where she had been a member since 1972.  
 
Jo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis Foster on October 26, 2022; three brothers, Sam Garvey Chambers Jr., Billy James Chambers, and George Wayne Chambers; sister, Genevieve Chambers Donaldson; a son-in-law, Lester Greathouse; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Butch and Peggy Sykora.
 
Those left to cherish Jo’s memory are her three sons and daughter, Steve Foster and wife Maridel of Newcastle, OK, Bobby Foster and wife Brenda of Marietta, Lisa Greathouse of Ardmore, and Scott Foster and wife Kim of Ardmore; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy Foster, Amanda Stice, Jake Foster, Skye Phipps, Cash Greathouse, Cody Greathouse, Hannah Stendel, Garrett Foster, Parker Foster, and Morgan Foster; 11 great-grandchildren, Madilynn, Tripp, Blakelyn, Beckett, Brady, Blake, Foster, Palmer, Kinsler, Creighton, and Crimson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and a step-sister-in-law, Erma Murphy of Gainesville, TX.
 
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Marietta’s First Baptist Church with Pastor Shane Norton officiating.

Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
 

Casket bearers will be Jeremy Foster, Jake Foster, Cash Greathouse, Cody Greathouse, Garret Foster, Parker Foster, Spencer Phipps, and John Stendel. Honorary bearers are Don Herwick, Donnie Gillham, J.J. Hornback, Brent Sykora, Dale Sykora, Craig Sykora, Greg Greenwood, Willis Choate, and Mark Segler.
