Born March 24, 1938 at Marietta, the daughter of Frank and Lois Smith Whitener, she died Friday, October 5, 2018 in Sherman, Texas.
A homemaker, Shirley had been a resident of Love County most of her life. She and Billy Wayne Dillingham were married in Gainesville, Texas on December 25, 1952. Before she lost her eyesight, Shirley loved to sew clothes for her family. She also enjoyed listening to audio books, gardening, and flowers. Shirley was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Betty Sue Dewbre; and grandson, Joseph Gooch.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Wayne Dillingham of the home; three daughters, Vicki McKee and husband Larry of Rhome, Texas and Mary Kretzschmar and husband Danny, and Patricia Hudson of Thackerville; two sisters, Alyne Stephens of Gainesville and Faye Lawson of Fort Worth, Texas; six grandchildren, Michelle Christopher, Russell Kretzschmar, Erik Kretzschmar, Dustin Kretzschmar, Dawn Brunkenhoefer, and Chad Whittington; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Honorary bearers were her grandchildren and nephew, Gary Stephens.
