Melvinia began this life on January 3, 1951, in Bakersfield, CA, the daughter of Henry and Lou Ellen (Puryear) Westmoreland. She moved with her family to Marietta in 1962 at the age of 11, beginning a lifelong connection to the community she would come to deeply love. Over the years, Melvinia worked at the cookie factory and the pants factory before beginning her long career with Michelin in Ardmore, OK where she faithfully served for 25 years until her retirement. Her steady work ethic and dedication were matched only by her devotion to the people she loved. On May 21, 1971, Melvinia married the love of her life, Delbert Daugherty, in a ceremony at the First Baptist Church of Marietta. Together they built a home filled with warmth, humor, faith, and unwavering love.
