Frank Armstrong, 90, of Marietta, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018, at Mercy Hospital of Love County, Marietta.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, October 12 in Marietta’s First Baptist Church with Pastor Shane Norton officiating.

Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Frank was born in Seymour, Missouri on August 13, 1928, to the late Noah and Rachel Climmer Armstrong. He was raised in Republic, Missouri where he graduated from Republic High School.

After high school, Frank worked at the Sportwear Manufacturing Company in Republic where he met his wife Helen.

He loved his country and served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. Frank was transferred home on March 15, 1952, and married Helen three days later on March 18. Frank was transferred to Madill in 1957 to become the pattern designer for the Sportswear Manufacturing Company. The family moved to Marietta in 1967 when the Company expanded its manufacturing business. He continued to work there until his retirement in 1992. Frank adored his wife, kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He loved to tell stories about their accomplishments, what they were doing, and how they were getting along. He also loved camping, fishing, and skiing with his entire family. Thousands of hours were spent on Lake Texoma and Lake Murray where he taught everyone how to ski and how to fish. His greatest joy was being with his family. Frank also loved family vacations. Every summer he would load up the family and camp somewhere in beautiful Colorado, Wyoming, or Montana. Once the kids were grown, he and Helen traveled to Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, and toured extensively through the United States including the Pacific Northwest, California, and the entire eastern coast. Frank and Helen also were master quilt makers. Since their retirement, they have produced over 100 master planned quilts for the entire family. Frank’s favorite quilt is “The Grandmother’s Flower Garden”, and the most difficult one that they ever sewed and quilted was “The Texas Star”. Together they have made “The Wedding Ring” quilt for every grandchild and great-grandchild. Other quilts they have made are The Patchwork, The Fishing Boy, The Dutch Girl, The Carpenters Wheel, The Star Quilt, and many more. Frank loved his Lord Jesus Christ and loved his home church, Marietta First Baptist. He has been an active member for 51 years and loved his church family and Sunday School class. He was praying for an “Old Time Revival” even up to the time that his Lord called him home. Frank was a loved husband, daddy, and papa. He will be missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Armstrong.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Armstrong of the home; children Steve Armstrong and wife Charla of Edmond, James Armstrong and wife Lisa of Lone Grove, and Susan Shultz and husband Ray of Norco, California; grandchildren, Andrew Armstrong and wife Elizabeth of Moore, Robert Armstrong and wife Amy of Duncan, Rachel Armstrong of Tulsa, Abigail Isokariari and husband Alex of Tulsa, Austin McCally of Seattle, Lyndsay Cathey and husband Michael and Parker Armstrong, all of Lone Grove, and Joshua Shultz and Caleb Shultz, both of Norco; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Alexandria, and Madison Riggs of Lone Grove, Gavin Armstrong and Canon Owens of Moore, and Tate, Graham, Alec, and Emmalea Armstrong of Duncan; and a sister, Virginia Clark of Powell, Wyoming.
