Services for Raymond Carl Coyle, 90, of Wynnewood were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 8 in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta with Paul Riley officiating.
Interment followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.
Born January 14, 1923, at Burneyville, the son of Ernest Earl “Dude” and Maude Morris Coyle, he died Monday, August 5, 2013, in the Oklahoma Veterans Center, Sulphur.
A graduate of Courtney High School, Mr. Coyle also attended school at Cannon Chapel. As a young man, Raymond worked in the shipyards in California and then in the oil fields. He and Lillie Hull were married in Marietta on November 17, 1943, and she preceded him in death on September 4, 2004. In 1958 the couple came to Jimtown where he worked as a driller in the oil field and raised cattle. In the 70’s they moved to Marietta where he raised cattle and continued to work in the oil field. Mr. Coyle loved going to horse races and playing poker. He enjoyed being with his family and his dogs, Maggie and Pupper.
Mr. Coyle was a member of the Marietta Church of Christ. On May 16, 2008 he married Lana Smith in Mena, Arkansas.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Earl Coyle, Vernon Coyle and Utah Coyle; a sister, Elena Loving; a grandson, Scott Coyle; and son-in-law, Louis Perry.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Elray and Jo Coyle of Burneyville; a daughter, Raemona Perry of Wynnewood; three grandsons; three granddaughters; three great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Serving as pallbearers were Raymond B. Coyle, Blake Coyle, Mike Coyle, Robert Riley, Raymond Gilbreath and Jerry Coyle. Honorary bearers were friends from the oil field.
