Born October 11, 1943 in Seminole, the son of Jessie Lee and Jearlene Brecheen Cowan, he died Monday, November 8, 2010 in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta. Mr. Cowan had been a resident of Marietta since October 1987, moving here from Denton, Texas. A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, Mr. Cowan served with the United States Marine Corps from February 9, 1966 to January 24, 1969. During that time he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal, the Rifle Marksman Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. Jerry will certainly be remembered for his “Jerryisms.” He was of the Christian faith.

Mr. Cowan was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Steven Cowan.
