Services for Billie Jean Couser, 83, of Marietta were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 15 in Marietta’s First Baptist Church with Lawrence Anderson officiating, assisted by Rev. Shane Norton.

Interment followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born October 13, 1927, in Washington Township, Love County, the daughter of William Herbert and Bonnie Beulah Gilliam Gaither, she died Friday, March 11, 2011 in Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.

A resident of Love County all of her life, Mrs. Couser was a homemaker who especially enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She was of the Protestant faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Tommy Rue Couser; two sons, Ricky Barber and Van Barber; three brothers, Paul Gaither, James Gaither and Silas Gaither; and a sister, Maureen Gaither.

She is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Suzanne Wilson of Olathe, Kansas, Jimmy Lee Wilson, Don and Martha Wilson and Tom Wilson, all of Marietta, Nelson and Cindy Barber of Greenville and Don and Bonnie Couser of the Oklahoma City area; four daughters and sons-in-law, Shelia and Ray Greenwood of Marietta, Kay and Billy Manus, Sally and Jimmy Edwards and Carolyn Eldridge all of the Oklahoma City area; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Kitty Gaither of Marietta and Phillip and Kay Gaither of Dallas; 31 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Nicholas Barber, Jake Barber, Jared Barber, Lin Greenwood, James Greenwood and Javier Garcia. Honorary bearers were Eric Wilson, Shaun Wilson, Joe Guerrero, Scott Ellison, Dewayne Buckhanon and Joe Lamb.
